Most of you know that I’ve been sad about the end of football season. Watching football was one of my favorite deployment pastimes. But my sadness didn’t last long!
“Army Wives”, one of my favorite TV shows, returned for its Season 5 Premiere on Lifetime Network.
I’ve been anxiously awaiting the show’s return, especially after I saw the previews about two weeks ago. I’ve been watching “Army Wives” for a few years now. I started watching around the time that Claudia Joy’s oldest daughter passed away.
I really don’t have a favorite character on the show, but I did take a “Which Army Wife Are You” quiz. Guess who I matched up with? Claudia Joy. 🙂
“Army Wives” reminds me of my circle of military wives. We get together and hang out regularly and we all bring something different to the table. Some people say that the show isn’t realistic, but I believe that you would be hard pressed to find any TV show that is realistic these days. Even “Reality TV” isn’t real.
I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I will say that this season is going to include a lot of cliffhangers. Some interesting things happened that could create a lot of challenges down the road.
“Coming Home” debuted on Lifetime right after “Army Wives”. It was a tearjerker. My favorite moment was with the high school football player, J.J. Rutledge. J.J. was really sad because his dad, who is his biggest fan, was deployed during his senior year of high school football. J.J. is very talented and was recruited by several colleges. On National Signing Day, J.J. had his sister and mother standing behind him as he announced that he chose to sign with the United States Naval Academy to play college football. All of a sudden, J.J.’s dad walks out of a room saying, “That’s my boy!” You should have seen the look on J.J.’s face! He was in tears and wasn’t ashamed. He was so happy to have his dad home! J.J.’s dad reminded me of my father-in-law. It was a beautiful moment.
Did you see these TV shows? If not, you missed a great night of television!
But all is not lost. You can go to http://www.mylifetime.com. Both shows should be available for viewing online sometime this week. Just click on “Watch Full Episodes”. Lifetime may also repeat the shows again on TV if you don’t want to watch it on your computer.
