Freedom to Follow Your Dreams

Many people have dreams of doing great things, such as opening up their own business or creating a unique product. But few ever take the leap of faith into making their dreams a reality.

Three years ago, my friend Bridgett felt led by God to quit her day job to pursue her dream of directing a Christian performing arts group for the purpose of spreading God’s word through free admission stage plays.

I discovered her passion for the performing arts firsthand when I played a small role in the play she wrote entitled, “He’s Been Good.” She made sure that everything was done with a spirit of excellence and I was impressed with her ability to write a play that touched so many lives. Many people received Christ into their life at the altar call after the play.

God has richly blessed her ministry and now, she and her husband are the founders of GO (God Ordained) Ministries. They have written and directed four plays since going full-time with the ministry.

They also started a group called Kids4Christ (K4C), a nonprofit Christian club for kids. And if that isn’t enough, Bridgett is branching out and doing webisodes on several different topics ranging from Christian Living to hair care.

What if Bridgett let fear get in the way of accomplishing her God ordained dream?

Fear is a thief that can rob you of your dreams. Living in fear is like being in a jail cell that keeps you in bondage, denying you of freedom.

There are three kinds of fear: fear of the unknown, fear of success, and fear of failure.

The bible tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7 that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Break the fear of the unknown by getting educated. Learn as much as you can about what you desire to do before starting. It can be expensive to make mistakes along the way, so get a mentor and learn as much as you can from them. Network and get your name out there.

As hard as it is to believe, some people fear success because they feel they may not be able to handle it all. However, I like to think of it this way: if I can’t handle all of the business, that means that God is enlarging my territory and I can hire help!

Fear of failure is the biggest one. No one likes to be thought of as a failure. But think about this old saying:If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Use what you learned previously as a stepping stone to your success.

I encourage you to follow your dreams.

Habakkuk 2:2-3 KJV
And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Pray to God for guidance. He can let you know which way to go and even help you fine tune your ideas even more.

James 1:5 KJV
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

What are your dreams? Have you tried to make your dream a reality?

If not, I encourage you to do so today. Life’s too short to be wondering about what could have been.

Christian Mommy! I am in awe. We can speak privately via e-mail more specifically, but I have been full of fear and doubt, leaving me unmotivated and procrastinating!

Thank You, Father, for giving Christian Mommy this to share and encourage. Thank you, Christian Mommy, for carrying this out!

    Thanks!

    smooches,
    Larie
