Never Give Up on God!

This weekend, I experienced extreme joy and a renewed faith in God.

My husband and I got a phone call early Saturday morning that a friend of ours had been set free from a very trying, faith testing situation.

We had been praying for our friend for over a year. She got into a situation in which her employer had been accused of doing some shady things and she was considered guilty by association by prosecutors. We prayed fervently that she would be exonerated and her good name would be restored with a Not-Guilty verdict.

When the verdict came back, she was convicted and found guilty.

Our hearts broke when she was wrongly taken away from her family. She is a dear friend to me and I knew that there was no way that she was involved in any shady business practices.

She spent four months in a holding facility before she was sentenced. We prayed, fasted, and did everything we knew how to petition God for her release.

Despite our earnest pleas and prayers to God, she was sentenced to federal prison time. We were devastated and distraught.

I had many questions for God. Why is this innocent woman being sentenced to federal prison time? Why haven’t you answered our prayers? You said that the prayers of the righteous availeth much! Many churches joined together in prayer for her. Many people supported her through the trial process. Why didn’t you come through like we needed you to?

My faith was being tested, but I continued to trust in God. I made up my mind to be a very supportive friend and to write her weekly, keeping her encouraged. I sent stationary and stamps on a regular basis. I continued to pray and fast for her and this situation.

Almost a month to the day of her sentencing, God showed up in a miraculous way. He changed the heart of the judge, who decided to let her go home on an appeal bond until the appeal case is decided. This judge has never, ever done this before! There were several other miracles that led up to her release. Never give up on God! He always has the last say so!

Sometimes, we expect God to move in a certain way and when he doesn’t move that way, it shakes our faith. But God is in charge. He always has our best interests in mind. He knows the beginning and the end and His way is always the best way.

So with my renewed faith in God having the ability to work through impossible situations, I trust God that this situation will soon be over for my friend. I believe that God will set things up so that her good name will be restored. I believe that she will be free to spend time with her family and friends without barriers.

Will you join in faith with me on this?

I’ll be sure to share the praise report when everything is over.

Don’t ever give up on God. Continue to believe He is able to move and bring light into a dark situation.

What an awesome God we serve!

I will also pray. That is wonderful to see that someone love a friend so much that they will fast and petition God with such persistence. Faith is built in these times and I’m inspired by commitment to trust God. So often we forget that God performs miracles. We forget that God has master plan and can change hearts and circumsatnces through the most horrific times. You have brought God glory through your efforts and that touches my hearts.

“Sometimes, we expect God to move in a certain way and when he doesn’t move that way, it shakes our faith.”

That is so true. But we have to continue to trust Him, don’t we?

    Wonderful post!
