Ambitious Prayers

At the beginning of this month, I wrote a post called Prayer Changes Things. In that post, I wrote about seven prayers that God answered on my behalf. For me, it was a great way to look at how God has blessed me over the years.

My husband keeps a prayer journal. Whenever he runs across a person or situation that needs prayer, he writes it down in his prayer book. Every night, he prays over those situations. Whenever a prayer is answered, he crosses it out and counts it as a praise report.
One of the points that Beth Moore talked about during the study was that God delights in our ambitious prayers. To drive this point home, she talked about how Joshua prayed for God to hold the sun in the midst of the war that they were in so that they could maintain the advantage. This was a very ambitious prayer that Joshua made. It had never happened before, but God honored it and received the glory for it.
God loves to answer the prayers of his children. I’m sure that your children don’t hesitate to let you know whenever they desire something. They know that you have the power and ability to grant them their wish if they just ask.
That made me think about this…why do we hesitate to ask God for things? Sometimes, we will clearly have a need for something and will not ask God for it. I believe that we sometimes hesitate to ask God because we try to work things out in our own power and in our own strength. Let me tell you this, you can save a lot of time and energy if you just ask God.
Philippians 4:6 – Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
I challenge you to think of something ambitious that you would like to do for the kingdom of God and ask God for it.
John 14:13-14 – And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

I needed this my friend because God has asked us to faithfully pray for something and this gives me the encouragement I need to keep praying and keep having the faith to recieve it! You are so right, we want to take matters into our own hands but sometimes it’s also a lack of faith and disbelief. Many times doubt God’s power to provide that one thing we so desire. This only hinders us from growing. Thanx for sharing..I really like Beth’s teachings.
