Tuesday was a very challenging day for me as a stay at home mom. My son was sick and he whined off and on from 6AM – 12:30PM. I was about ready to pull all of my hair out!!!
I had taken him to the doctor the day before and got some medicine from the pharmacy close to my house. I didn’t get his meds from the military base pharmacy. Sometimes, you have to pay for convenience.
Thankfully, my mom was off work during my borderline meltdown and I was able to call her multiple times throughout the day. What made it more challenging was the fact that I was sick too. I was very weak and nauseated.
I constantly prayed and asked God for discernment on what was wrong with my son. It finally came to me that one of the medications he was taking made him too drowsy for too long and he didn’t know how to handle that feeling. Thirty minutes after I called and scheduled an ASAP appointment with his doctor, my son started playing and running around the house. I took him to the doctor anyway and the doctor took him off that particular medication.
Yesterday, I had to go to the doctor too. I didn’t have anyone to keep my son, so he had to come with me. He was on his best behavior. Well, for most of the trip anyway. You can only expect so much from a one year old. I think he could tell that mommy didn’t feel well because every time I coughed, sneezed, or blew my nose, he looked at me with a very inquisitive look. After getting settled back home, he laid on the bed with me and played with his toys. He was so sweet, even though he didn’t feel well himself.
Thankfully, my husband was able to come home early and take care of our son so I could get some rest. He decided to take our son out for some father and son time, which would have been great if our son didn’t vomit AND have diarrhea while they were out. Doggone antibiotics. Poor Daddy only had one change of clothes for our son.
And I thought I had a rough day…
