He-Man was a great cartoon that was out when I was a little kid. I thought that He-Man was cool and I thought Battle Cat was even more cool. My son doesn’t know anything about He-Man, but you wouldn’t know it from what he did today.

So there I was…sitting at the kitchen table. I had a very important phone call that I needed to make without a screaming, squealing, playing toddler in the background, so I let my son go in his bedroom to watch one of his DVDs. I turned on the video monitor so that I could see what he was doing. He was a great boy and stayed in his bed most of the time I was on the phone conversation, which didn’t last too long.

Since he was at peace and I had a few other things that I needed to do really quick, I decided to let him stay in his room for a while. He can’t get in trouble in there and besides, his room is childproof, right?

Well, I took a look at the monitor and saw him actually KICK THROUGH his wooden safety rails on his toddler bed. I couldn’t believe he did that!

I think I heard him say, “By the Power of Grayskull, I have the POWER!!!” But seriously…

After he kicked the rail off, he started to go grab the large jagged edge piece with wooden splinters everywhere.
I all of a sudden became Cheetara from Thundercats (ya’all remember her), and sprinted to his room before he got the wooden piece.
Thank God, I was able to get it before my son really hurt himself.

So here is the damage that he did.

The crazy thing is that the rail side that he kicked off is the side that he likes to lean against when he is sleeping at night. I guess he is going to have to sleep on the other side now. Oh well.

My husband said I need to call the crib company and ask for another part. I’m thinking a little bigger than that…should I do a safety report?

I mean really, should a one year old that will be two on tomorrow be able to kick down a “safety rail?”

Seriously…something is not quite right with that.

    (giggle giggle)

Your post definitely cracked me up and I can’t say that I’ve seen the He-Man show before. I was more into the “My little pony” when I was a little child before I turned into a tomboy and watched “Power Rangers” 😉

I remember when I heard a loud crash during bedtime and my heart stopped when I did not feel my toddler’s body in the crib (I didn’t turn on the lights at the time), he kicked the railing loose and fell overboard. I believe he was less than two years old :o) how scary!!

I hope you get that crib fixed soon 😉

Hmmm…yep, you should report that. 🙂

Oh, my gosh! He kicked off the safety rail?!?!? That shouldn’t happen!

I, too, have become Cheetara a couple of times before. It’s like, ya get this super-mommy power that sweeps over you, and physically, you can race up the stairs in like a half a second!

Wow! What a strong toddler you’ve got!
