A Day Off!

I had a day off yesterday!

Days off for stay at home mommies are few and far between.

But I didn’t think I would have a day off like this…

My husband was on quarters yesterday. For those of you not familiar with the military term, it basically means that he was given a sick day off work to heal up. He has been sick for a while and the doctors finally figured out what was going on with him.

I had a busy day planned for me and my son. I was going to a Mom’s Bible Study group, which also serves as my son’s playgroup. I also had a meeting scheduled at the local cancer center where I do volunteer work, but I dreaded taking my son with me. I had visions of him screaming to get out of his stroller while I’m shaking hands with those in leadership!

My husband suggested that I let our son stay home with him while I went to my meetings. I felt so guilty about the thought of leaving our son at home because I wanted my husband to rest. Plus, my son would miss his playgroup for the week. However, my husband insisted that I leave our son with him and enjoy my day off.

When I got in the car to leave, I noticed that my husband had taped a letter and a poem he wrote for me on the steering wheel. It was so sweet! I smiled the whole way to the Mom’s Group.

The Mom’s Bible Study Group went great. We are doing the Beth Moore study, “Believing God.” There were several statements made by Beth Moore that resonated with me:

1. Don’t be more committed to your commitments than to Christ!
2. There is no high like the most High.
3. God delights in our ambitious prayers.

I’ll let you all meditate on that and I’ll discuss those statements next week.

After the Mom’s Bible Study, I went to the meeting at the Cancer Center. I met so many people and I think that it was a great start to a long relationship with them. I’m so glad that I didn’t bring my son! I ended up staying out there almost three hours, networking and discussing plans for future volunteer opportunities. There is no way he would have lasted that long…maybe thirty minutes though!

When I left the house, I encouraged my husband to get some rest. Well…..as much as you can get with a toddler running around.

But he acted like I left him a “honey-do list.”

When I got home, my husband had cleaned up the house, washed and folded clothes, and had beautiful flowers waiting for me. He also baked HOMEMADE CINNAMON ROLLS!

Here is a picture:

I’m so thankful for my husband and I must say that it was nice to have a day off. I’m thinking right now on how I can be a blessing to him.

Any tips?

What a guy! I’ve married much the same. Honestly, I don’t deserve him, but don’t tell him that…

Love your new blog look. Very striking. I notice you’re part of a miliary family. We live in a miliary community (home to Seymour Johnson Air Force Base). Just curious if you’ve ever been here.
